Training for your Career
If you’re fortunate enough to have a job and, for the most part, enjoy it, that’s great. Many though are “dogged” by feelings that they “should be doing more” to further their career. Chances are, you need a Coach, a Mentor or some corporate training – in house, or out! A mentor is someone who can help another make a significant transition in an area of work, knowledge or even thinking. A coach will use his own knowledge of your subject area and offer tips to help you fulfil your goals.
Corporate Training sounds a bit more threatening and demanding. But look at it like this, career development (or furthering) isn’t that complicated. It can be tricky and you will need hard-work and discipline, but basically you must find your own way to personal growth and career advancement. It’s a question of using your most natural skills to the fullest.

You’ll discover that, in the UK, you may be eligible for a “Professional and Career Development Loan”. You might decide to enrol on a course with the Open University. The courses can be followed while you’re still working the nine-to-five.
Corporate Training in Leadership control, while you’re at your present place of employment might be a good move. You will be encouraged to keep up with the times, be an office diplomat and above all, learn not to make enemies. Here’s a novel thought: if you decide to spend an hour doing something for someone else that won’t gain you a brass farthing, be cheered. That one hour may be worth more than the rest of your day. They’ll remember it.
